Summary

The Nazca desert lines have been know for decades, but only became popular after Von Daniken's suggest that they were landing strips and parking areas for ancient astronauts. The video shows a bit of this, including Von Daniken admitting that one photo was in error. The film mostly follows the efforts of Maria Reiche and her decades of research in to the lines. She see the lines as astronomically aligned, and this is also examined in the video, with discussion by noted archaeoastronomer Anthony Aveni.

Questions

  1. How were the Nazca lines misused by Von Daniken?
  2. How were the lines made? What natural conditions aided construction?
  3. How could the lines be made so straight, and how could curves be drawn?
  4. What is the nature of the astronomical alignments?

For an interesting discussion of the lines, see The Lines of Peru
